I recently reread “A Good Man Is Hard To Find And Other Stories” and found the work to be as unnerving and brilliant as I remembered, but somehow different.  Flannery O’Connor is the rare writer whose work changes with each read. I was reminded of the line from a Victoria Williams song, “that which you fear the most will meet you half the way.”  There is plenty to fear and to admire in O’Connor’s work. This piece from  Bookforum assesses O’Connor’s work as well as the recent biography “Flannery: A Life.” After reading this, maybe you too will be inspired to revisit the work of  Flannery O’Connor.
